let's have a picture of the week shall we? this series is a chance for me to show you remarkable pictures that i can only aspire to take. each week we will take a look at a new image from photographer vivian maier; a very mysterious, at times troubled but talented photographer who left behind a treasure trove of undeveloped film rolls. her life's work didn't come to fruition until, by chance a young man who enjoys auctions purchased an unmarked lot containing the film. when he viewed the negatives, fantastic and unusual images appeared. he went ahead with the films development and has been advocating for her work ever since.

as a transient nanny she enjoyed companionship, a place to call home and sense of belonging wherever she went, but never made a family and home of her own. her love of travel and extreme insight into human emotions and struggles are reflected in her raw and poignant photos. if you would like to learn more about this unrecognized in life artist, i highly recommend the documentary " finding vivian maier"

her style of photography hits right at my heart, deepening my perception of art. art isn't the image you see. it is being able to understand what the artist was feeling, the thoughts about what he or she saw as it is reflected in their piece. do you feel the same? that connection....that's art. the art is in the connection between the viewer and the doer.

let's start with this one.....

i do not believe it is by chance that the identity of the subjects are not revealed. it is not important. her focus is on the comfortable and mutual connection between this man and women. they are not just holding hands but seemed to be yoked in perfect pace with one another, which is what i believe separates them from the common hand holders.

until next week.... God bless
